Description

The South Sea Pearl is impressively large and quite rare. Naturally produced by the Pinctada Maxima oyster, these rare beauties are found in Australia’s deep and offshore waters. White South Sea pearls are typically creamy-white with a silver overtone. Like the Akoya, the South Sea Pearl is also very sensitive, making viable culturing areas quite limited. However, these peals are known to retain value better than all other types because they are quite large and remain rare, despite advances in South Sea Pearl farming. In addition, because of the intricate biology of the South Sea pearl oyster, these pearls are known to have an impressively thick nacre, making them more durable and a lasting family heirloom.

This 9-12mm cultured South Sea pearl strand measures 19″ long with 14k yellow gold and diamond clasp.

Gifting Tip: Pearl is the birthstone for June and the gem of the 3rd and 30th anniversaries. Due to the timeless appeal pearls are also a popular choice for milestone birthdays, graduations, and Brides.
